Rob Hagopian, a native of Detroit, re-located to Chicago in 1990 where he became a fixture in the blues and jazz scene, performing with such acts as acoustic soul guitarist and New York Times emerging artist Nick Barron, blues harmonica legend Billy Branch, and blues guitarist Vince Agwada of the Sugar Blue Band. While in Chicago he studied with bassist Darryl Jones (Sting, Miles Davis, Rolling Stones) and Rob Amster (Kurt Elling) and recorded with a variety of artists ranging from industrial music innovator En Esch ( TVT Records) to Flamenco guitarist Carlos Villalobos's La Esperanza ( Virgin/ Higher Octave Records). Most recently, he moved to Philadelphia in 2000 and is very active on the Latin music scene performing and recording with such artists as pianist/ percussionist Orlando Fiol, Cuban born pianist Elio Villafranca, Grammy winners Dave Valentin and Oscar Hernandez, Johnny Pacheco and Pupi Lagarretta of the Fania All-Stars, Flamenco Guitarist Cristian Puig, Alo Brasil, Latin Fiesta, The Jackson Symphony Orchestra of Tennessee, Tulsa Symphony Orchestra of Oklahoma and the AMLA Latin Orchestra led by Elio Villafranca.
