Jon Coyle

Jon Coyle has been an active musician in the Philadelphia region for a number of years.  After studying the piano privately for 13 years, he took part in Temple University's Jazz Performance program until graduating in the spring of 2010.  While at Temple, Jon learned from many talented instructors, including nationally touring artists as well as graduates of Rutgers University and The New England Conservatory.  He was able to work with big bands, small jazz ensembles, and contemporary percussion groups, and was also a member of the Temple University Choir.

Jon has performed at venues such as the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, World Café Live, The Tin Angel, The Fuel Collective, Chris's Jazz Café, and the Deerhead Inn.  He has played with various groups and artists of many different styles, including jazz, folk, classical, and experimental.  He also actively composes and records his own music, and in the past has worked on original projects with Radioactive Productions and Milkboy Studios.
As an instructor Jon has been teaching privately since 2004, taking on students for beginner and intermediate piano, music theory, and jazz/improvisation.  In 2009, along with trumpeter John Swana and drummer Matt Scarano, he conducted an all-day jazz workshop for students of the Spring-Ford School District in Royersford, Pennsylvania.  He began teaching at The Music Workshop in May of 2010.
